Have your say about services for young people
Northumberland Care Trust and Northumberland Families and Children’s Trust (FACT) are working together to improve the services for young and disabled people and their families in Northumberland.
We are looking at how we can make the services better for people who move from Children’s into Adult services - often called transition.
If you or a member of your family recently moved from using children to adult services in Northumberland we would like you to come one of
these events and hear about your experiences.
Progress for Providers and Customer Journey
Date:10 & 11 February
Venue: Isabella Community Centre, Ogle Drive, Blyth, Northumberland, NE24 5JF
This two day event is for providers offering practical tools to help to develop personalised services that are flexiblea and operationally responsive. In particular it focuses on delivering individually costed services and developing 'Individual Service Funds'packages.

Introduction to Support Planning for Providers, 8 November, Isabella Community Centre, Ogle Drive, Blyth, Northumberland, NE24 5JF
This interactive free course aims to enable participants to develop their understanding of the personalisation agenda and gain some basic skills in support planning. The event is being run again due to the high demand for places for the same event held in September 2010.

As part of Northumberland Care Trust’s Putting People First Programme, we are working in partnership with Tricia Nicoll from in Control to offer a free one-day training event, specifically for providers in Northumberland who have been engaged in our work to transform adult social care.
The requirements of the concordat Putting People First provides challenges for people using services, families, carers, providers and commissioners alike. These events are based on what providers have told us that they want to know more about.
Choice and a Voice: User-led organisations and personalisation, 26 October, Newbiggin Sports and Community Centre.
User-led organisations (ULOs) are run and controlled by people who use support services including disabled people with an impairment, older people, families and carers. They are set up to promote giving people more choice and control over how their support needs are met.
Choice and a Voice was a free event aiming to involve disabled people, older people, their families and organisations that support them in deciding the support organisations need to be user-led.

Introduction to Support Planning for Providers training events took place on 13, 21,& 22 September across the county

Northumberland Registered Trader Scheme drop in session, 14 September, County Hall, Morpeth
Northumberland County Council Trading Standards Service in conjunction with the Northumberland Care Trust are introducing a Registered Trader Scheme.
The scheme is set up primarily to help older people, people with a disability and/or health condition and their families to find trades people in their area who can carry out home improvements including gardening, plumbing and building work.
It will be available as an online directory or by calling Trading Standards direct.
Trading Standards held a drop in session to gather people's views on what people wanted from the scheme.
Citizen Leaders
Stannington Village Hall, Morpeth, 19 & 20 July
Personalisation and self-directed support is a big Government agenda. It is about how services and support need to change in health and social care so that people really can live ther lives they want with the support they need.
These 2 day events were for local people who wanted to learn more about what local governement are doing to make personalisaiton happen and how to get more involved in shaping what those changes look like in Northumberland. The days were led by Tricia Nicoll who has worked nationally on the personalisaiton agenda.

Putting People First annual conference 2010 Newbiggin Sports and Community Centre 23 March 2010
Our annual conference was held to give people an opportunity to find out more about our progress with the Putting People First programme.
Residents who use adult social services, family carer’s and organisations providing care and support in Northumberland met to talk about the shared vision and commitment to improving support for adults.

Regional review of equipment services
People who currently use Northumberland Joint Equipment and Loan Service (JELS) were invited to attend a free event on Monday 7 December 12.30-3.00pm (including a buffet lunch) at Woodhorn Grange, Queen Elizabeth II Country Park, Ashington, NE63 9AT.
Service users were asked for their views on how the JELS service is working and what community equipment services are important to them.
How support in Northumberland is changing - a series of events organised in October by In Control, a national charity whose vision is to ensure people who need support and their families have real choice and control over their lives.
Choice and control on the ground - two FREE events for people providing services, support and community activities for adults were held in September 2009 to explore the implications of personal budgets and self-directed support. Through these events we aimed to give you a better understanding of the national, local and personal context to the changes happening in the adult social care market place.

Have your say on social care - June 2009
Four meetings were held across Northumberland for people who use Northumberland Care Trust adult care services and their families to have their say on the proposed changes to adult care and help shape the Care Trust's Putting People First Programme.
Helping older people in Northumberland stay healthy and well workshop - June 16, 2009
This workshop event was held to give people an opprtunity to find out more about a 'health and wellbeing' strategy for the county to be developed by Northumberland County Council and Northumberland Care Trust.
