Audio vision screening service

What does the service do?

The audio vision screening service, staffed by audio-visual testers, offers:

  • routine screening of hearing and vision to all reception age children at school.
  • basic assessment of hearing and / or vision for any child referred (4-18 years), with a report sent to the appropriate professional. Parents are informed of the result by letter.

We adhere to national and local protocols and procedures, liaising with the audiology department at the Freeman Hospital.

How can I access the service?

You can be referred via:

  • your GP
  • your health visitor
  • your child’s school
  • or you can contact the screening service yourself.
