Multiple sclerosis specialist nurse service
The multiple sclerosis (MS) specialist nurse provides support, advice, information, education and help to those who are affected by MS.
What kinds of services are provided?
- Newly diagnosed courses – this course gives an introduction to MS, with speakers discussing various aspects of living with MS
- Nurse-led clinics - problem-solving, assessment, lifestyle advice, support
- Present at consultant and multi-disciplinary clinics
- Symptom management
- Monitoring of Disease Modifying treatments (where appropriate)
- Home visits (where appropriate)
- Lifestyle advice
- Telephone advice line
- Referral to other disciplines/ agencies
How can I access the service?
The service is available to anyone with a confirmed diagnosis of MS. Patients can either self refer or ask their GP, consultant neurologist or other health professional to refer them.
Drop-in sessions are held at local venues and by appointment at the MS Research and Relief Fund Resource Centre on the first Wednesday of every month.
