Podiatry

* Podiatry is the diagnosis and treatment of problems of the legs and feet

* Podiatry used to be known as chiropody

About the service

The podiatry service provides diagnosis and treatment for people who have problems with their legs and feet. Podiatrists treat a complex range of conditions using a variety of techniques to manage painful foot conditions.

Our podiatrists help to make sure that patients can still get around as they used to and keep their independence.

When you first come for an appointment with the podiatry service you will be asked some questions about your medical history and the type of medication you take. Your feet and legs will also be looked at. Once the podiatrist has found out what type of problem you have a care plan will be made. The care plan will detail what treatment you require.

If you are coming for an appointment you are welcome to bring a family member or friend with you.

How can I access the service?

Very often you will be referred to the podiatry service by your nurse or GP. However, the service also allows people to refer themselves.  Just call your GP practice and they will be able to arrange an appointment for you.
