Stop smoking - support to quit
* Evidence shows that you're more likely to stop smoking for good if you get the right support. You are four times more likely to succeed with support from the service.
* Giving up smoking is the single biggest thing you can do to improve your health
What does the stop smoking service offer?
Trained advisors will offer friendly support and advice to you to help you achieve your goal of going smoke free. Medication to help you stop smoking is also available on prescription which your stop smoking advisor can prescribe.
For those smokers who find it difficult to quit there are a number of specialist advisors including a pregnancy specialist who can support pregnant smokers and their families to quit. We can also offer specialist support for people in hospital or for those who are going to be admitted.
We run one to one sessions, drop-ins and groups (according to demand) in a range of venues from health centres and pharmacies to community centres and workplaces. Support to quit is also available in the evenings.
With the right help you can stop smoking…for good
“I wasn’t sure what to expect when I turned up for my first appointment. I thought I might get nagged and told I had to stop smoking but I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t like that at all. My advisor listened to what I had to say and supported me through the quitting process. I’ve been smokefree since 2005 and feel great”.
